Overview

Mgahinga Gorilla National Park is a spectacular protected area in southwestern Uganda, located within the misty Virunga Mountains and renowned as one of the country’s premier destinations for mountain gorilla trekking. Covering approximately 331 square kilometers, the park is home to the endangered mountain gorillas, including the famous Nyakagezi gorilla family, as well as the rare golden monkeys found nowhere else in Uganda.

Its dramatic volcanic landscape features three extinct volcanoes—Mount Muhabura, Mount Gahinga, and Mount Sabyinyo—offering breathtaking scenery and challenging hiking adventures.
